A 12 éves Alan felfedezi a díszes Jumanji-táblát, s amikor Sarah-val leülnek játszani, Alan hirtelen eltűnik és a Jumanji dzsungelbirodalmában találja magát. Nem is tud visszatérni, mert a kislány túlságosan rémült, hogy befejezze a játékot. Csak akkor kerülhet ki a csapdából, ha valaki meghatározott számot dob.
